John Taylor

Head Coach

8th Year

Record: 103-94

Coach Taylor enters his 11th season with the Camden baseball team, his 8th as head coach, and has compiled a career record of 103-94. He attended Huntingdon High School and played baseball, football, and basketball and graduated with honors in 2003. On the baseball diamond, Coach Taylor played for former CHS head football coach William Blow, and was a 3-time All-District member, as well as a member of the All-Region team for football.  


After high school, Coach Taylor continued his baseball career in college at Bethel College for two years before transferring to Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.  He graduated from Lipscomb in 2008 with a B.A. in History.  


Before coming to Camden, Coach Taylor began his coaching career as a middle school coach at Goodpasture Christian School in 2008 and 2009.  While there, the Cougars were Middle TN Baseball Conference (MTBC) champions in 2009.  


Coach Taylor came to Camden in the fall of 2009 and is employed as a teacher and football/baseball coach.  He teaches U.S Government.


Coach Taylor is married to Brianne Beasley Taylor and they have a son, Anson, and a daughter, Celia. 

Brandon Parker

Assistant Coach

3rd Year

Coach Brandon Parker is beginning his 3rd year as CHS baseball assistant coach.  Brandon is a 2010 graduate of Camden and former member of the CHS baseball team.  Brandon played in 46 career games, most coming at the LF position where he excelled defensively, and was a key member of the 2010 team that went 18-9 and kicked off a very successful era in Camden baseball history.  

Coach Parker is a 2017 graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin. He will act as OF and hitting coach as well as serve as head JV coach for the 2020 season.

Coach Parker is married to Jessalyn Parker and they have one son, Fletcher.

Drake Jennette

Assistant Coach

2nd Year

Coach Drake Jennette  joined the Camden baseball staff in 2019 as an assistant. Coach Jennette returns in 2020 for his second season as an assistant.  He is a 2017 graduate of Camden High School where he played football and baseball.  


After high school he attended Bethel University on a baseball scholarship.  During his Senior year at CHS he celebrated his 100th career hit with the Camden Lions under Coach Taylor.  His baseball career consists of many years of travel ball, chosen by Under Armour to represent Tennessee at Pittsburg Pirates training camp in FL, and was chosen in the Elite 100 at Ole Miss. 


He owns and operates Top Notch Lawn Care and is a pesticide technician for Pest Stop of Camden.


Assistant Coach

1st Year

Coach Christian Vick is another former Lions player that has returned to be an assistant baseball coach.  Christian is a 2014 graduate of CHS and played baseball and football all 4 years. While at Camden, he was a 2013 11-AA All-Tournament performer and earned a spot on the 2014 All-District team for 11-AA.  He was also an All-District performer in football at the QB position.

After high school, Coach Vick attended Jackson State CC where he was a member of the baseball team.  He earned a baseball scholarship to Southeast Missouri State University where he was a member of their pitching staff. Baseball has taken him all over. Christian spent the summer 2018 playing in College Station, TX for the Brazos Valley Bombers and in 2019 played in the Western Canadian Baseball League for the Weyburn Beavers.  He threw a no hit shutout with 14 strikeouts vs the Edmonton Prospects, earning him a WCBL All-Star appearance.


Christian will graduate from SEMO in the spring of 2020, and is glad to be able to come back to his hometown to help teach the game of baseball.
